Dar Al-Anbar Organization for Culture, in cooperation with Al-Maarif University, held a panel discussion on Saturday, 27/12/2025, entitled “The Water Crisis in Iraq Between Political Challenges and Environmental Impacts.” The event was attended by a distinguished group of academics and researchers specializing in water resources and environmental studies.
The panel was delivered by:
- Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdulhakim, faculty member at Al-Maarif University
- Dr. Ammar Yassin, Professor of Water Resources at the University of Anbar
- Mr. Samim Salam, environmental activist and researcher specializing in water and environmental issues
The discussion addressed the current state of the water crisis in Iraq, its political and regional causes, and its environmental and economic repercussions. It also examined future challenges and sustainable solutions through the presentation of scientific perspectives and practical approaches aimed at strengthening water security and preserving natural resources.
Participants emphasized the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and civil society organizations in raising public awareness of water-related issues, as well as the necessity of adopting effective national policies to confront the growing challenges associated with this vital sector.
